After 27 years of dedicated service, Neil Weinstein is stepping back as Executive Director of the LID Center, effective March 5, 2025. Neil has played a pivotal role in advancing Low Impact Development (LID), which was first pioneered in Prince George’s County through the efforts of the LID Center and then the Prince George’s County Department of Environmental Resources (now the Department of the Environment). Generous financial support was provided by the US EPA in the early development and testing of LID principles and approaches.

Under Neil’s leadership, the LID Center has worked with communities nationwide to advance innovative water management solutions, complete over 450 grants and projects, and foster partnerships that drive sustainable development. Neil will continue to support the organization as Associate Executive Director, focusing on special projects and playing an advisory role.

Stepping into the role of Executive Director is Emily Clifton, who has been a key member of the LID Center for 14 years. Emily brings extensive expertise in sustainable stormwater practices, community-based green infrastructure, and policy development, along with a deep commitment to the LID Center’s mission. With her leadership, the LID Center has doubled in size, expanding from 7 to 16 staff members, enabling the organization to serve more communities and enhance its impact.Please join us in thanking Neil for his invaluable contributions and welcoming Emily into this leadership role as the LID Center continues to advance innovative and sustainable infrastructure solutions.
