The Environmental Infrastructure Collaborative, a program of the nonprofit LID Center, hosted a webinar titled Designing Stormwater Systems That Are Resilient: Design, Failure, and Long-Term Performance. The webinar featured Dr. Bill Hunt, PE, an experienced extension specialist and professor at NC State University’s Bio & Ag Engineering department. The discussion covered big-picture considerations around stormwater management decisions that best protect communities, what systems can realistically achieve, and practical strategies for siting, design, construction and maintenance to improve long-term performance. Bill closed with reflections on lessons from ancient infrastructure – what has endured for centuries, and what it can teach us about building systems that last.
