Project Description

NCHRP 25-37: A Watershed Approach to Mitigating Stormwater Management

The LID Center was the Primary Investigator for a National Academy of Sciences Transportation Research Board National Cooperative Highway Research Program research team that developed a watershed approach for state DOTs to help them achieve compliance with water quality permits that are based on watershed-based Total Maximum Daily Load limitations and receiving water quality standards. The research project includes a state-of-the-art watershed toolbox that will allow DOTs and other users to look at multiple strategies to locate the most effective water quality BMPs, provisioning of ecosystem services, and conservation approaches within the watershed to achieve compliance and superior environmental outcomes.
